The director of Turkish club Hatayspor, Volkan Demirel, said on Wednesday that Ghanaian soccer player Christian Atsu, who was claimed to have been rescued from the wreckage of the deadly earthquakes that devastated Turkey and Syria, is still missing.

Atsu, 31, was reportedly taken to the hospital after the powerful earthquakes on Monday.

Demirel told Reuters, “There is no information on his location now; we don’t know where he is. “It’s not true that he was transported elsewhere or yanked out,”

Atsu is still being sought after, Demirel added.

Atsu, a member of the Ghanaian national team, signed with Hatayspor in September of last year after spending almost ten years with English giants Chelsea and Newcastle United.
